The Opening of the Opening 2021

Action and reaction. Cause and effect. Chain reaction. Domino effect.

What if to begin a Festival we had to launch an object that would trigger the all sequence? And what if that sequence could unfold, just like in the opening of an opera, how this amazing work of art is going to unravel.

The Opening of the Opening is a project by fimp focusing on stage sequences, chain reactions between objects. For one week a group of people will meet to build these machines that combine materials, theatre props and everyday objects with small contraptions that abide to the laws of physics and mechanics.

Although they strictly abide to the gravitation law, these moving objects usually have an effect on the viewer, mixing expectation, surprise and enjoyment. There is something liberating about them... In this first experience, footages of the sequences will be available online for everyone to watch and enjoy.
